I just had a computer crash…what a mess! When you realize what has happened you get a huge sinking feeling in your stomach, then you want to cry.
I did cry.
But I’m back with it fixed and up-graded and all sorts of good stuff. My computer guy moved me over to Google Chrome where I am having a learning curve, but I think I’m going to make it.
Having my computer back is just wonderful! One good thing I had done earlier is get Carbonite. What a life saver! I highly recommend it! HIGHLY!
I’m off for a walk…it’s really beautiful outside and I need to wind down and thank God, the Universe and any and all Powers that be for the fixing and return on my computer in a very short time. (I was afraid I was going to have to go without until after the first of the year…HORRORS).
Linda
I switched to Google Chrome awhile back. Webpages load faster, though viewing bookmarks and history is different than with Explorer.

Oh, I am so glad you got it fixed!!!! I was forced to begin to use Google Chrome when my old (now crashed) computer slowed down too much to run Firefox. At first I didn’t like it much but now I find other browsers cumbersome and slow.

Crashes are horrible..Far Guys Computer crashed last month. Dropbox is a great place to keep key items..like mailing lists etc..and it is free. I use it at home and at the museum so if I need to retrieve something from the museum at home I can.
I am glad you are up and running..you will like Google Chrome:)

I SO know that sinking feeling. How many years did we not have computers and now they are one of the most important THINGS in our lives. I could get along with no TV, radio, oven, refrigerator or even car for a few days, but even hours without a computer leaves me a whiney mess. I have Carbonite too, but hope I never need to use it.

I like Chrome a lot!
Love your pictures. I hear Kim Komando talk about Carbonite all the time. Glad it helped when you needed it. 🙂
Merry Christmas!

Wonderful slideshow! I back my computer up on a regular basis on an external harddrive. My book-keeping data I back up on a separate USB thumbdrive EVERY time just to be safe. I wonder sometimes if we depend on these computers TOO much 😉

Oh, dear, what a big problem. I now have Google Chrome, by accident, and am not liking it too well. But you know what they say about old folks…we don’t like change! Google Crome got rid of my favorites file and I have not been able to get it back..grrrr. But glad you got your computer fixed so fast..that’s great. I have Carbonite, also.
Hope you had a good walk. Blessings!

If it ain’t broke, leave well enough alone. That’s my opinion and I am sticking to it. Glad your crisis is over. I would love to jazz up the appearance of my blog, but dare not take the risk. Love the snowy day photos!

Ugh! I think we have all dealt with computer crashes. They are awful. I usually blame JR.

Jeff just switched us to Google Chrome yesterday and I always hate it when he does something ‘new’ However, once I get used to it I am sure it will be fine!

Whew! Glad the fix was relatively painless. I know that sick feeling when you see the blue screen of death and then things go extremely bad. Hooray for backups. Hooray for fixups. How did we live without our computers????

HI Linda, Glad you had Carbonite… We talked about getting it —but we have TOO MUCH STUFF… Think it would take about 35 days just to send all of our huge files to them… SO—we have about 6 external backup harddrives that we use… I’m just glad that we do have everything backed up though… One never knows when a crash can occur…
Glad you are back up and working… I haven’t tried Chrome yet —but am happy with Firefox and Safari… Crazy how we get so attached to our computers, isn’t it????
Hugs,
Betsy

I absolutely hate to say this because it’s tempting fate, but I’ve had Macs since they first came out and have never had a crash. My son’s friend, who is a tech guy at Apple, has to pry my fingers from my keyboard to do upgrades, and he forces me to get a new computer every 5 years even though the old one still works well, just to keep up with internet stuff. The only thing I back up is my photos, on an external drive. Please God, don’t punish me.
I’m really glad you were back online so soon, I would have missed you!

I think computers have become the same to us as electricity. We take both for granted. When we lose power, or have a crash, we realize how bereft we are without either of them.
I hate having to begin with a new computer…. trying to get data moved or find documents is tough.
Yeah… new versions of any software or online platform are tough to deal with.
