Rapidly Melting

We are rapidly melting here.  The predicted snow storm blew in and around us and left.  The days are warming up to around 37-40* then cooling down to 10-12* at night.

This is a bigger January thaw than I originally thought we were going to have.  I really can’t decide if this is good or not.  Snow means water, water is the lifeblood of life..hummm.

Of course, if the snow stays in our mountains, I could handle not having snow down here.  The frost is deep, deep in the ground so we will not be thinking of spring for at least 8-10 more weeks.  (It is January I remind myself daily)

Then this morning — during morning chores I saw it!  A sun dog—a sure sign winter is still here and colder weather is on its way!

  1. Happy Monday Linda, I am so glad you are enjoying the spring like weather too; can’t imagine it will be a long few months of cold though-I hope not, although you need the snow I’m sure. BTW, what is a snow-dog? I’ve never heard this expression before. Hope you have a great week.

  2. We here in Maine had our first snowstorm at Halloween, a dusting here or there, but nothing major. I’m okay with this. As I was walking Winslow Homer by the light of the moon last evening, I thought how thankful I am to live here in New England. I enjoy the changing seasons. Have a wonderful week, hugs-Julie.

  4. Hi Linda, We’ve all had some crazy weather this winter. Here –we haven’t had much winter at all. Our poor roses which are supposed to go dormant in winter are still trying to grow…. They are all mixed up…

Stay warm —and I hope you get ‘enough’ water/snow —but not too much.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  5. Cold…I would be anxious for the snow to leave too. Hope all is going well, though and that spring comes soon to your area. Yes, it IS January, but we can wish for spring!

  6. We are having an absolutely beautiful day here today…56* and not much wind. It sure doesn’t seem like winter here either. We need some really cold weather for awhile to kill the destructive bugs. LOVE your header and the farmer at work!
    Blessings!
