Knee-High by the Fourth of July

So far so good!

It’s cooler today!  Which is wonderful, by the way.  Yesterday we went from 100* weather down to 62* in 6 hours.  Lovely!

No fireworks for anywhere in the state of Colorado!

I think that is the first time in either Terry’s or my memory that, that has ever happened!

But better safe than sorry!

The cloud cover over the hot, scorching, drying sun is fireworks enough.

Today is cloudy and nice 69* as I write this.  Terry is out cultivating the pinto beans while I sit here playing on the computer 🙂

Oh well, when I get done I must go water my plants and clean out the hen house, so this little break is okay.

  1. Cute picture… That corn looks healthy, just like it should be by July 4…..

Glad the cooler weather came to you. Hope we get some soon. At least it won’t be 102 today–but it will be about 93 with lots of humidity… One thing about humidity is that it ‘can’ bring showers… Hope we get some rain!

Hope you had a good 4th. We enjoyed our time with family.
    Hugs,

  4. We’ve always believed that if corn is knee-high by the Fourth of July, that means a good crop. Your corn definitely looks good. Will you please send some of that cooler weather this way?

  5. Lookin’ good, I’m in Illinois today and the corn looks to be head high to me and I’m 6’2. I wonder what they are putting in the corn these days to make it grow so fast. Pioneer seed is the predominate brand in Illinois and I remember as a kid in the late 70’s growing up here that there were test fields all over the place..:-)

  7. Had the quietest 4th on record here. Thank doG! You are lucky you can irrigate your corn I hear the dryland farmers may not have a crop at all most places.

  8. Beautiful corn! And beautiful family! My corn is over 6′ tall but the ears it is producing are real skinny and I don’t think they are making kernels! 😦
