Over the River and Through the Woods to Grandmother’s House We Go

Over the river and through the woods,
To grandmother’s house we go;
The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh,
Through (the) white and drifted snow!

While out getting fire wood, the dogs and I could hear excited voices!

Grand-Mother's-House-we-go-

Over the river and through the woods,
Oh, how the wind does blow!
It stings the toes and bites the nose,
As over the ground we go.

Boomer started a HOOOOAL so Fuzzy and I had to go look.

Walk-2

Over the river and through the woods,
To have a first-rate play;
Oh, hear the bells ring, “Ting-a-ling-ling!”
Hurrah for Thanksgiving  New Year’s Eve Day!

There coming across the fields were three little children and Hank!

House

Over the river and through the woods,
Trot fast, my dapple gray!
Spring over the ground,
Like a hunting hound!
For this is Thanksgiving New Year’s Eve Day.

It took them awhile to get to us, because there were things to do….like throwing snowballs, romping with Hank, and making snow angels

To

Over the river and through the woods,
And straight through the barnyard gate.
We seem to go extremely slow
It is so hard to wait!

Gradually, they were there…running and laughing; cheeks and noses red

Over the river and through the woods,
Now Grandmother’s cap I spy!
Hurrah for the fun! Is the pudding done?
Hurrah for the pumpkin pie!

Shadows-1

Hurrah for the gift of family!

Happy New Year’s Everyone!  2013!  We hope each and everyone has the best year ever!

  1. What a special time together!! Know there was a smile on your face when you heard those voices!

I got to enjoy family today, too. All of us got together for a meal of ham, blackeyes and cornbread! Guess we started off the southern New Year right! 🙂

“Thanks” for the song…now I will have it running around in my head the rest of the day!!
Blessings! and have a wonderful 2013!

  4. I have to admit that I tend to judge my son’s girlfriends by whether or not they would live nearby, out here in the country. I’m glad you had a great start to the new year, and hope it’s a sign of good things to come. Also, I’m still sending healing thoughts for Fuzzy.
