I have a pair of birds (of which type I do not know) who have made a delightful little nest in the lilac tree.
They used lots of different things to make the nest including pieces from one of the old tarps we have out by the grain bins. 🙂
I always have to smile when I walk by and look up.
They don’t…both Mom and Dad scream alarms and take off swooping and flying to hurry me on by.
Next week Terry should cut our second cutting of alfalfa… sometime around the 12th or so!
The summer is flying by. Only one more cutting of alfalfa here and then it will be fall.
I am hanging onto every day for I really dread WINTER!
Today is lovely so we are off to see some ancient Indian dwellings. I’ll have photos for you tomorrow (I hope)
Have a good one!
Linda

This is driving me nuts! The older I get, the more I love birds (can you explain that one?) and so I was trying to identify it with some of the many programs on line…but I just don’t know enough. At first I thought it was a yellow breasted chat, but now I think not. That bird has a rather orderly nest, and your birdies keep house like my sister in law! I love her, by the way. It’s just that I’m rather anal retentive bird when it comes to nest-keeping.

You have some creative neighbors. Birds are the best pesticide there is. Now if we could just keep them out of our fruit trees. Hooray for the hay!
And DO NOT say that “w” word again until October…..sheeesh!

That bird looks like a Western King Bird. From my bird book anyways. 🙂 They are very aggressive around their nests. Great shots.
Cant wait to see the indian dwellings. How cool! Have fun!!

I think it’s a western king bird! I always have a nest or more in the trees around the house. They create quit a ruckus guarding their nests and raising their babies. And then, suddenly , one morning it is quiet. They are among my favorites!

That is quite a nest the birds built. I actually saw some sunshine here this morning. I hope you have a great day at the Indian dwellings.

I love the nest of the barn swallows at the farm. They are the mud ones and if you look close you can see really long horse hair hanging down from them. They make use of everything. I will look forward to tomorrows pictures, sounds like a fun adventure!

Great bird shots but i don’t know what they are. You’re right summer is going by in a hurry. I don’t dread winter coming.

Oh lucky lucky you to have a lilac tree… it’s never cold enough here to get them to grow, but next year I’m going to plant one and put ice around it over winter and see if that works.
It’s the one thing I really miss… apart from peonies, and maybe I’ll do the same with them !
There’s nothing like the smell of lilac…

I too dread the winter Linda – I try not to think about it but to absorb as much of this summer sun as I can to store up for those dark damp days.
