Terry and I spent all day working on the First Year hay field.

The dew was so heavy he wasn’t able to even start baling until 10:00 in the morning, by noon he stopped.  Two hours of nice dew…another sign of fall weather.

He hopes to get the rest of the field baled today.

Straightening-bales

After lunch Tallen and I went out and straighten the crooked and fallen bales so Terry would not have to get off the tractor fix the hay bale get back up on the tractor start again.

By that time of the day it was HOT!  But a nice little wind was blowing so the biting flies and mosquitoes were unable to land.

He worked until supper then stopped for a break.

Dogs-and-hay After that the dogs and I went out and gathered the loose hay (sometimes the baler misses chunks) and picked up any broken bales (a broken bale is where one of the strings didn’t tie) and brought those in.  By the time we were done it was too dark to continue.

The day was actually a really nice day….I finally got my kitchen and back porch cleaned, the windows and screens in those two rooms washed and the stove and refrigerator sparkling.  Sure felt good.

View-2

Coming in I noticed how nice the Cannas looked against the firewood.  I feel just like a squirrel … everything is starting to come together before the seasons change!

Corn-sun

Today I tackle the BATHROOM!  In-between the last of the hay field.

  1. You can really feel the summer winding down. It was 46* here this morning, I must say it felt good! The sun casts a different shadow on things. Love that last photo. How’s Boomer doing?

  2. You make me tired just reading what all you accomplished yesterday!!! You have been one busy bee catching up on everything….glad you are feeling good. See the doggies on the 4 wheeler with you. Boomer satisfied with just sitting on it rather than running?

The cannas are really pretty with the wood background and love the last two pictures.

    Blessings!

  3. I’ve always thought driving a tractor looked like so much fun. I know from reading your blog it takes experience to do it the right way. Do you ever drive the tractor?

  5. Getting a smile out of your doggie helpers. Well, at least they’re good company. Your hay looks good. So does that stack of firewood. Yes, cleaning the windows is making its way to the top of my list. With all the smoke I can’t tell if it’s the windows or the air that’s messed up.

  6. Tremendous green in the corn and hay. Here we very seldom get hay without a lot of rain on it. Very little corn is grown here and then only for silage or winter grazing.

  7. What a lovely photo, that last one. I’ve never seen red Cannas, pretty. There must be a lot of satisfaction at the end of the day to see the before and after pictures of the hay. I won’t worry about you being squirrel-y, until you tell us you’re burying acorns. 😉

  8. I had better get into gear, you are catching up, pulling out and PASSING me! Love Tallens long long legs in the 4 wheeler. It is raining today but i think i shall take a leaf out of your book and clean the big verandah, it is out of the rain and needs a sweep and tidy before all the mud arrives! But our little alfalfa field is loving this rain! c

  9. I love blue morning glories. You’ve captured the color really well, my photos of them are usually washed out. There’s nothing like that blue. Well, maybe the sky in Colorado.

  10. Hard at work again!! I wish I had your fortitude. Some days I want to do absolutely nothing because my chore list is so long. I get near the end of it and have to start all over again. 🙂
