Canyon

You are looking at the sunlight on in the Roubidoux Canyon, just down the road from our farm.

Well, TODAY is the DAY!  I’m off here in just a short while to talk to the Social Security lady to see if I can get Medicare!!!

I never dreamed the day would come when I would be excited about Medicare, but I am.  Medicare doesn’t pay for everything or all things so a person still has to have a supplemental insurance.  That will be my next shopping trip….if all goes well today.

I think I am a confused as the next person on just what and how Obamacare (The Affordable Healthcare Act) is going to effect Terry and I, but for right now….today…I will be excited and pleased if I can qualify for Medicare!

Set

Talk to you in the morning!

Your aging (but not unhappy about it) friend,

Linda

  1. The pink sky is beautiful! My insurance rates for 2014 went up about 14%; if that’s the future of Obamacare I’m not any happier than I thought I would be! 😦 I’m looking forward to Medicare too!

  2. Thought you were 65 in January?

Yep, I’m certainly looking forward to that. Have to wait to retire until I can qualify because the cost of insurance for just the two of us would be $1200 per month.

Let me know what you learn

  4. Well, girl, welcome to the crowd! Hope your experience with SS is a good one. Mine went smoothly, in fact, did it over the phone!

Your pictures are gorgeous! Especially the 2nd one. I’m a bit jealous! 🙂

    Blessings!

  5. I really don’t understand your health care system over there Linda. I have grown up with our National Health Service, which for all its faults (and there are many) is generally very good.

  6. The Affordable health care act will not affect those on Medicare nor your supplemental insurance. It is full coverage health insurance for those who need such a policy, which you no longer do! Congratulations on retirement.

  8. Hubby turns 65 next year, but I’ve got a loooooong time to wait, and now that the granddaughter is our ward (to use a wonderful, old-fashioned word!) the insurance thing is completely confusing. Hope the lady at the office can help you sort it out quickly and easily!

  9. Your photos are lovely. They made me smile. Good luck with Medicare. Hubby has it. We used it this past week – some day I’ll do a blog post about it. It will be interesting to see how much we end up paying from his ER visit.

  10. Gorgeous views. ♥
It’s crazy that if you can’t afford to buy insurance that they can fine you. I don’t know what our younger boys will do. They can’t afford insurance or that fine.
Only 61 this year, so I can (have to) wait a bit, I think, before I qualify for Medicare.
    Good luck!

  12. You should qualify…I hope it goes smoothly for you. In my opinion The Affordable Care Act is only good on paper..toilet paper..I hope I am wrong. We will just have to wait and see…so far from what I have heard the cost varies from State to State and many people still cannot afford it. I have a few years left until the magic 65 for Medicare:)
