While working outside Friday a huge Sun Dog lit up the western sky, foretelling of a cold front soon to be arriving in our area
The day was rather warm for a November day so we kept on
checking the fences and rebuilding where they had been torn down
That is Terry the tiny dot on the gray looking hill. He will check the fences between our neighbor to the south
Here he is again almost to the top.
While he is doing that the dogs and I headed down to the west of the place. The most damage will come from those two areas and the north.
Yep! Right on time! Saturday the cold front came in…rain, bitter wind, and snow in places. We only had a sprinkle of rain and the sharp wind, but it looks like the mountains collected lots of white stuff. Come next spring we will be able to water our crops with melted snow! 🙂
Today the clouds are lifting and a small chill breeze is pushing them away clearing the sky.
It looks like a promising day!
Your friend on the western side of Colorado,
Linda

beautiful sky. when i lived in wisconsin, we’d foretell the cold snaps by the sun dogs, too. thanks for that memory. 🙂

Great pictures as always, Linda. I sure miss that huge wide-open sky — and Grand Mesa. (Have I mentioned that before? lol) Magic thoughts for lots of snowpack this winter.

That front is coming to us today. We’ve already had high winds and a tiny bit of rain. More is on the way —and it’s gonna get colder… Fun Fun!!!

Hooray for mountain snow! We have been on of the unseasonably warm dots on the weather radar. Us, western Arizona, and southern Florida; the rest of the country is 40 or below. I wish all of your severe weather would stay in the mountains where it belongs.

There used to be a saying
Winter comes in like a thief in the night
Then roars like a lion, putting up a great fight
But goes out like a lamb, all sweetness and light

Trust you didn’t find too many torn down fences? Damn, inconsiderate pests who do such things.
Great to know that you will from the snow have a good water supply for 2014.
Last night Brisbane got a really great follow up soaking – about 8 hours of that badly needed
stuff from the sky. The lawns and gardens are rapidly returning to healthy growth.
Presently (Monday 5.30 am) looks like we are in store for some more – Yippee!

I didn’t know that sun-dogs meant that. A beautiful omen though. Now that the crops are in, it looks like some real work is just beginning.

Your country side is a lot like ours! An old Hooterite man told me when you see a sun dog, the weather will change in 3 days. And it seems to be true!

We had a sun dog on the 11th of November. Now we’re having mid 70’s. 😉
We did have a couple days of cold weather, but I can’t remember if it was before or after, lol.
Have a wonderful week!
