We had a huge bully wind yesterday….55 m.p.h. gusts that picked up everything and flung it here and there and everywhere.
No, not really, but the sky was brown.
Along with the dirt and wind came ‘almost’ rain. Just enough to coat my very clean and sparkling windows.
I haven’t really gone to check the apricot trees, I guess I know what I will find.
This morning the sky is Spring time blue, the sun is shining, the air calm, with a few puffy clouds around Paonia. It will stay that way until this evening when another wind will blow in. The weather people say we will be like this for a week. Then more settled weather will arrive with 70* temps. YIPPEE!!
Off now to rewash the windows to let the sunshine into the house!
Your farm friend
Linda

the spring wind is brutal here at times. i can only imagine yours!

Oh my, I burst out laughing when I read your comment that “all of Utah came” with the wind. I know the wind wasn’t funny, but you sure make the best of things. Your weather forecast sounds delightful!

Where are all of the trees you need to block some of that monster? Have they been blown to Arizona?? We’ve got that wind too but our mountains help protect somewhat!

I was really hoping you would have those apricots this year!!

We’ve had wind, but I’m happy to say nothing like what you had to put up with. I hope you won’t have to re-wash your windows too many times.

Ugh! Hate wind like that. We have cloudy sky and snow this morning. but, we do have meadow larks! There is hope!

It’s like March is trying to make a final stand before having to leave. I loved “all of Utah” too and I’m sure it seemed like it.

Oh geez! The wind! Been cool here. Suppose to warm up to the 60’s. I can take that, but 70’s sound wonderful!
It’s amazing how the dirt sticks to the house, especially the windows. With that little bit of rain to make it muddy.

Washing your windows again will surely bring more wind. It is kind of washing your car and then it rains.

We are supposed to have 50 MPH winds later today…no fun, I am glad you all survived the winds there…the poor apricot blossoms. I was hoping you would get some apricots this year:(

I hope that the wind has not removed your top soil to Nebraska or Kansas?
Maybe a tree break as suggested by Rita is needed, we have them in many flat areas
in the south to protect the paddocks from fierce and unruly winds. They also in the windy months (August especially!!!) give some relief for the cattle and sheep.
Actually I had never noticed until this has been now raised that your paddocks
seem to be really open to the elements.
Rain has gone, hope in a week that some follow up comes. Might be expecting
TOO much from the “weather gods”????

I hope some of Utah settled and boosted your topsoil…?

Brown air is never a good thing. I’m happy the blue skies came back.

Wow! 70! We are getting up into the 50’s this week but it seems like the same here happens, as soon as we get warmer weather the winds want to pick up and make it feel cooler than it really is!

Yikes. I’m sure the animals were not fond of that huge wind either.
I’m glad you got to enjoy a little bit of sunshine afterwards! Hopefully rain is on its way soon, too.

Linda, I found your dirt-it’s here in the Forest!!! We must have had 50 mph winds here last night. My dirt (if you can call it that) must be somewhere in Kansas…. But my daffodils are coming up! How

As long as it was Utah that blew in and not Wyoming ;>). The wind sounds brutal (your mother would have hated it. So would I.) But at least you know that Spring is coming.

Oh no! That sounds awful. But you did tempt fate by washing those windows 🙂
We used to get big dust storms in Adelaide, when strong north winds swept the red desert sands of central Australia into the city. It was a case of bringing in anything not nailed down, batten the hatches and wait for the sandblasting. Then to sweep away all of that fine sand before the rains came. It didn’t happen often, but I’ve never forgot them – they are huge and seem to create their own weather system.
