Today the wind is blowing and the rain is trying to fall and it’s cold again!
But it can’t last…it just can’t last! The earth is shifting the day is growing longer (our day length is 12 hours and 37 minutes long) and the skies are getting blues. But for today the weather is playing a rather cold nasty joke on us.
Terry has been making ditches, finishing up the rolling. Even though the wind is nasty and cold he will start leveling the fields. The fields don’t wait…well actually the soil doesn’t wait.
I’ve been cleaning the yard, I only have two big areas left. And then I need to rewash all the windows again. I’m also spring cleaning the house. Lots to do right now.
We got word that the irrigation water will be here by the end of the week or Monday of next week. We are almost ready. After they turn the water down it takes our canal a full week before it fills. Any day now.
Off to get some stuff done!
Your friend on a very windy farm,
Linda

I’m glad to see that you still have some apricot blossoms on the tree. They make a great promise of Spring against the blue sky. I hope Winter cold soon leaves you for good.

We are having a couple of cold blustery days now. I’m always tempted sometime in March to put out tomato plants but then winter comes back and the poor things just sit and shiver. Best to wait a couple more weeks. We did get the canna bulbs planted this weekend though

Chilly and grey here today but so far no wind. Wandering cows came home and brought 4 new calves with them so tomorrow we will catch and tag and vaccinate them. I need to get started on cleaning the yard! We just won’t talk about the house. 🙂

Hi there, Sorry about another COLD and WINDY day… Hope we finally get some SPRING soon.. Here today, it’s gorgeous (gonna go into the 70’s) and feels wonderful working in the yard. We are busy spreading mulch.
You two are really busy… Glad things are going well. Love your apricot blooms.

That first photo you posted is really pretty. Love the contrast with the blue over the brown, and of course the budding flowers.

Sure hope warmer weather comes your way soon. Would be much nicer to work with water if it isn’t so cold! You are really the energizer bunny, Linda, you are working circles around me!!
Remember to prop up that foot once in a while! Blessings!

Good luck with the water coming on. I suspect Terry will be ready. He sure is a bloody hard worker, and of course not forgetting your imput. Real “dinki di” team work at the Brown farm, that’s bloody obvious and the only way to succeed.
That tree as shown – isn’t it a bit close to your house?? I have a complete aversion to trees close to houses – the bush fire threat always scares me with leaves in gutters etc.
All my relations on properties never had trees close to homesteads, any sheds or yards for stock.
Fine sunny day here. Possible rain again next week and I hope so for the “out west” – the farming community, a follow up would be most welcome by ALL. C’mon “Huey” do what is needed, one can but hope????
Funny isn’t it – you with the wind factor and us with the rain factor.

Spring cleaning going on here too. Tomorrow will probably be the whole barn. Had 2 down cows in there that are now gone. Clean and sanitize.
Make sure you rest that foot. I got a perfect from the doc yesterday. In another 6 weeks, should be good to go. He was a little ticked that I had been o my horse. But said he understood. I was just I the corrals. 🙂

But I see blue sky and blossom, so that must be a good thing. I can see what hard work it is, farming in this environment.
