A Long Slog —April 16, 2014

Finally, I’m back!  I hope!  Fingers and toes crossed!!!

They had to take my computer back to a completely clean slate…reload everything…I do mean everything—then Carbonite had to down load the rest. (I am so thankful I have Carbonite…THANKFUL!!!  That download took THREE DAYS!

Okay, lesson learned from the Carbonite experience…I must get an external hard drive and put all my photos on it.  The forever download was because of the pictures.  More than once I almost panicked and its fore sure I cried (just a little bit).

Anyway, I’m back.  Lots happened in those 2 and half weeks—the water came, we had a nasty freeze, we got all the way in, and we started the water on the farm only to have to turn it off again.

I’ll get you all caught up soon.  I will also be able to get caught up with all of you again.  Evening-2Since the apricots are now all frozen I’ll still leave you with a lovely evening photo of the memory of their blooms!

It’s good to be back!  See you on your site soon!

Your friend,

Linda

  1. Welcome back! I hope you won’t have to go through this again. Old Man Winter has made a return visit to us as well — we had a freeze last night and it’s supposed to freeze again tonight. Your apricot blossoms were beautiful, it’s too bad all the apricots froze.

  2. Welcome back Linda, you were missed! It is so hard when the computer takes a dive. We’ve all been there, and learned the same lesson. I do have a back-up external hard drive for the same reason of protecting my thousands of photos! They aren’t too expensive but worth every penny. Sorry about the apricots, my brother in Paonia warned me 😦 Have a wonderful spring day and a very Happy Easter!

  3. Don’t even worry about getting completely caught up with back posts. I love it when you visit me, but I know your time is limited especially this time of year — and I’d rather have you write your own posts than read my old ones. I’m sure all your readers feel just like I do — just so glad you got stuff back and didn’t lose anything permanently and glad that you will be able to start blogging again soon.

  4. Yay, for Carbonite!! I have it, too. Glad to see you back again. Love your header, but sure hate it that the apricots are gone. We had two nights of hard freezes, so there will be no fruit here, this year, either.

Know you are super busy with watering. And gardening will be upon us soon, too. Take care, my friend……blessings!

  5. So pleased that you are back together again. I have external hard drive whivh works better than built in one also if computer goes ker put its all on a separate drive. You have been very patient without your internet and computer so now its back to work again…without overload

  6. Yea! You are back! I too learned the hard way. Now I have an external drive. I don’t use it as often as I should though.
I saw the cutest cartoon, wish I could find it and send too you.
All the farm animals were standing around the computer. The person had his head in the screen. The animals said, oh look, it’s the farmer in the dell! Haha!

  7. Glad you finally got your computer all fixed up!!! You are smart to get Carbonite. We could never do it because about 80% of what we have are all of our tons and tons of photos. Talk about taking weeks and weeks and weeks getting all of them downloaded —and then adding 500+ more each trip we take… SO—we just have lots of external drives for all of our back-ups. George shoots using ‘raw’ —and those photos are over twice as big as my JPG ones… SO—that even takes up MORE space….. Do you think we take too many photos???? HA —YES we do, but we love it… I know you have missed your computer —but I’m glad that it’s all ‘clean, in good shape, and ready–like brand new.’…. YEAAH…

    Glad you are back.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  8. Glad to see you back. We get fruit one year in seven (pears and apples). Nothing has bloomed yet so maybe this year we will get some, but I really doubt it.

  9. Good to see you back, Linda. External drive definitely a good idea. You can get a terabyte for little over $100 and will take a long time to fill it up.

  10. Great to know all is now fixed and I hope not at too much expense?

Any spare rain kindly send here for the outback – good follow ups are needed before the winter months and they start in June.

Fantastic day here at present and hopefully will continue for the Easter holiday breaks.
Still good surfing weather but maybe when I get to Terrigal at the end of the month it may be just too nippy for any surfing efforts – still fingers crossed for that.

  11. Thrilled you are back and missed your posts. My daughter bought me a Flex Drive and a Toshiba portable drive for my pictures. Of course, the granddaughter will take up one of the drives all by herself and the other photos on the others. I now wonder if I need to get another drive just for their backup!! Anyway, so glad you are back!!!

  12. Welcome back, Linda! I am not computer savvy at all, so I panic when something doesn’t work and I think I’d have a meltdown if that happened to me! Only a few tears? I’d have cried a whole river.

One thing I’ve learned is to always do a daily back-up and the external hard drive is a must. Now all you need to do is to re-boot the weather. 🙂

  13. Glad you are all straightened around! I have two external hard drives..Simple Saves but I also back up to disc and the time is coming that I will have to find a gun safe or something to store those in…they really add up. Our Internet provider offers storage backup for 4. 99 a month..I am thinking seriously about that! 🙂
