Memorial Day — May 26, 2014

I most humbly thank each and every one of you, who have given service to our country!  And to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice; that I and those I love might be free!

  1. Thanks for the reminder of those brave souls past and present who gave up so much for our country. And I will take a moment in silence for all those who fought and defended so I could have the freedom I so love and sometimes take for granted. Beautiful picture, Linda. Have a good day and may you and yours be blessed with sunshine and peace.

  2. Memorial Day of the USA is like Anzac Day here – 25th April.
A day of “Lest We Forget”.
The crowds increase ever year at memorial services Australia wide and at
the WW1 battlefields of Gallipoli and in the Flanders region of Europe, where
so many lost their young lives. Next year here (Australia) will be very touching – 100 years from the catastrophe of the landings in Gallipoli (Turkey). To be at Gallipoli and at Villers-Bretonneaux near Amiens in Flanders – well numbers of pilgrims who had grandfathers have booked – the official numbers had to be ceased – just too many of the young and
not so young – it will be something to say in years to come – “I was there”.
The town of Villers-Bretonneaux has a sign – “Never Forget the Australians”.
I think that is very moving.
Like Australia, the US and other allies are pulling out and just leaving training units for the Afghan army. “Lest we forget” those who died in this war.

A lovely flag tribute Linda, well done.
