Sara, Punkin’s Patch, did a post a couple of years ago about a springtime float down their river.
I loved the last photo so much I asked her if I could have a copy. She so generously sent me one.
“Spend the Afternoon. You can’t take it with you”–Annie Dillard
Sara started her post with the above quote from Annie Dillard. Annie is so right…we do need to remember to just stop awhile and enjoy…there is much out there for us to see, things that soothe and fill our souls with peace and replenishment!
I hope each and everyone of you take an afternoon and just ENJOY…we all need to visit those things which stops time, work, and the busyness of doing!
Your friend,
Linda

My ‘spending’ comes at first light. It is so quiet, except for the animals eating, scratching, and now I hear the rattling of antlers. My bucks have begun practice battles while they eat the corn I throw out for them. The rut will begin in earnest soon and their battles will be for real, out of my sight.

I “spent” the afternoon sitting out on a beautiful fall day with some friends who wanted to hang out with some sweet sheepies for a bit. It was wonderful :-).

you are so right Linda’ we tend to spend our lives rushing around doing what we call ‘living’ but we rarely pause to see the beauty of things we rush past..thank you

That is exactly what I have been doing for a month. I really overdid it this summer in the heat and extra growth of weeds along with the predators of my chickens. So I am just taking one day at a time and enjoying it irregardless of the smoky skies from a recent flare up of a forest fire that started in August. There are some breezes that clear the skies temporarily and a few showers but I still am an outdoor kind of person. Nature is very soothing ! Thanks for the reminder.
