“Everyone thinks you make mistakes when you are young. But I don’t think we make any fewer when we are grown up.” — Jodi Picoult
Finally…after working a little here and there all late spring, through the summer, and just now finishing in late fall I can finally say “DONE!”
It’s just a kit. But for me and my skills it was a fun evening past time.
I’m also glad it’s finished. That white rose was terribly hard to do with all the different shading and subtle use of color. I (very much) enjoyed the big bold colors of all the other flowers. 🙂
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda

Gorgeous! Well done!

Oh, Thank YOU! You do very nice handwork yourself. I’m not sure yet what I’m going to do.

GOOD JOB! It has been many years since I’ve done any type of needlework, much less needlepoint. I still did needlework after the oldest child was born, but after the twins, those pasttimes were just a memory. Maybe it’s time to start again.

TWINS! Oh, yes…I can just understand how busy you must be with three children and two are twins!

Oh Linda, what a glorious piece of work. Clever you! It’s exactly the sort of piece I love, all big extravagant blooms and brilliant colours. I hope you make something with it, and it doesn’t disappear into a drawer…

I have not had the courage to strike out on my own, like you, and copy something from a book. Maybe someday! Thankyou, Kate!

It’s really just following a chart, but a painted canvas does take away all the counting you need to do otherwise.

Beautiful job, Linda. I love the colors on your needlepoint. It would make a gorgeous pillow to be sure. I used to do a lot of crewel work but not any more. Now my interests are genealogy, reading and praying for people. Congratulations on a job well done!

I still love genealogy…but my lines are so far back I need to travel to do research so I don’t really do it much anymore!

I couldn’t even do that from a kit! It’s stunning and I know how hard they are. Very impressive! Now onto the next winter’s project?

Yes…I have two things I want to try…one is a crewel type and another Ribbon embroidery

I have done both and each is easier than what you just finished. Looking forward to seeing what you take on.

What an achievement dear Linda… I used to love doing cross stitch and petit point until I ruined my eye-sight sewing acres of huge cream sail-cloth curtains at night by hand for a whole lot of french windows !!! and bargello, patterns too… but no more alas… I hope you use yours for a beautiful cushion for your sofa or a comfy arm chair…XXX

I understand the eyesite thing…my second daughter and son-in-law gave me a special light that I can use while I sew…otherwise those days are done for me also.
