We were Entranced—Thursday, September 17, 2020

(Smoke is back. Sigh)

As you all know, I dread winter! The snow, the flurries, being trapped inside—the whole cold thing.

But, as much as I dread winter, it is coming.

With winter and the need for heat in mind; off we went to the Uncompahgre Plateau to start cutting firewood.

Even with that huge load–we don’t have enough to make it through winter.

On the way to the ‘special wood cutting place,’ we saw a Pronghorn

Stopping the pickup and sitting still we watched

Thoroughly entranced.

What a treat!

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda

  1. Wow…..that’s alot of wood….how many more truckloads will you need to get through the winter? I love pronghorns too. We usually see them when we drive out to Wyoming. Love the west!

  2. We have about eight cords stacked and ready now for our New England winter. Every year is less predictable than the last. I do not cut log length anymore. thankfully I live in an area where I can by it cut. Our dog and cat would not put up with us if we depended on oil or propane. At two in the morning they can be found stretched out in front of the wood stove.
