And Then They Were Gone —- Thursday, September 7, 2023

The swallows have left.  They are gone. Fall has arrived.

No, I didn’t get to see them leave.  They left Sunday while we were in Marble.

My hummingbirds are slowly thinning out.

I’ve gone from 6 feeders daily.  Now to four.

They are so hungry.  So cute. So special.

Fall is in the air now.  Cool morning and warm days.  Heading toward that season I dread.

Sigh!

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda

  1. Yea! Fall!
I wish the birds would stay awhile longer, but they know their journey is long
    Winter.
    I know.
You & Bob dread winter… to say the least.

  2. I don’t like to wish ill on any birds, but I wish the sacred ibis would leave my back yard… they poop over everything, steal the chickens’ food and are generally a nuisance. They’re popularly known as bin chickens here, for their ugly habit of raking through rubbish in search of food. Swallows, on the other hand, are beautiful, graceful and peaceful. I envy you!
