We got the ditches pretty cleaned out—-ready to start the water
Then we turned on the water
Cleaning the ditches as the water flows onward
Finally —- first set of the season! The light shining through the water shimmers onto the first alfalfa field.
WHEW!
Eudaimonia (n.) Human flourishing; a contented state of being happy and healthy and prosperous
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Out here in Northern CA we call the Alfalfa “Nevada Gold”. It is grown, of all places, around Fallon, NV. We see huge truck loads of giant bales on I-80 all the time going to dairies and farms in the central valley.
In the early 1900’s water was diverted from the Truckee river to the Fallon area for agriculture, and it eventually turned out the most valuable thing they can grow there is Alfalfa.
Some water from the Truckee river still flows into Pyramid Lake on the Paiute Indian reservation, and the Paiutes are still not happy with what happened to their water back in the 1900’s. Just a little alfalfa related info for ya.

We grab those little buggers and throw them to the side. You could find big sticks there to run and play with
