I thought I would bring everyone up-to-date on the rather bleak time we are having with the water in our part of the world.
We get all our water from Taylor Park Reservoir, way up by Almont, Colorado.
Through the Blue Mesa Reservoir, on to each of us through the Gunnison Tunnel.
I won’t continue with all that, but move you to the CBS broadcast:
These farmers are our neighbors—the fields are next to us and about a mile away. We have left 50% of our farm setting idle. Only farming the fields that we already had planted with alfalfa.
It’s pretty dismal. We’ve gone from 40 tubes of water down to 10. If they cut us back to 40% in July, we will go to 5 tubes per field.
It’s a tad ghastly.
Still, it’s a beautiful world. Our farm is wonderful. And I do believe the Universe is good.
The word is Pray for rain! And pray for snow. We will see.
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda
