What a long trip for Terry and a coming home for Evan. They rolled in about dark Tuesday night, making it one day sooner than originally planned. They had at first thought about going through Texas, into New Mexico, but instead cut through the panhandle of Oklahoma right into to Colorado.
Boy was I ever glad to see them!
Irrigating worked out fine, I only had two horrible problems, the head gate broke, (just before the guys got home) and a pipe split, but I was able to work around both of them. The head gate had to be fixed by the ditch company, but wire held everything together until Terry could talk to the Ditch Rider.
Now I am just back to being the back-up farmhand. This is good, real good.
And the granddaughters get to help by riding up to Grammy’s for a visit.
It won’t be long now until Bladen is out of school so we will have two helpers when we irrigate.
Big sigh of relief!

Glad the travelers are back. Running things alone can become a scary challenge (thank heavens for haywire!) The grandkids looks as wonderful as mine. I did a google map flyover of Delta, Colorado. Looks like great farming country.

You did an awesome job of “holding the fort down” as my DH would say! It’s always nice to have the house to yourself now and again, but boy we are always glad when our DH’s arrive home!

That is so awesome they made it a day early. Glad Evan is back and Terry is there to be the “big boss” on the farm.

The idea of a google flyover is a great idea. I’d love to see where you live, in fact I told the Bossman this morning I was going to have to find the atlas and look you up. Glad everyone is back safe and sound and you are no longer in charge. You did well though!

Linda, I am so glad they are home safe! And glad for you to have your farmer man back! That was a lot to do on your own. Love the pictures… especially the one of the kids on grandpa & the 4 wheeler.

Glad they made it safely! And I hear ya on being the back-up farmhand. That’s what I prefer to be. Our electric fence took a nose dive two days into hubby’s month long stay in Seattle for work. I could NOT find what was causing it to go to ground. So needless to say, one of the horses “broke out” at one point. At least his nose was to the ground, and there was additional fencing so I don’t think he could have really gone anywhere. We finally found the bad section of fence this afternoon and fixed it, and watched while the mare promptly touched it and bucked and bronc’d and snorted. Then we saw a 2nd horse do the same and come galloping back into the pen, all snorty. 🙂
But anyways, long comment short, I prefer for hubby to be home in case SOMETHING goes wrong!! 🙂
