The canal is empty! No more water heading toward the sea. (Or ocean or whatever)
Terry started putting in the new transmission pipe
Of course he had to dig part of it by hand
Then the majority of it could lay in the cement ditch
This is so the cement ditch won’t be so hard to take care of next spring
Every year the ditch fills up with winter trash from the neighboring farms…this year the wind was just way too much
As you can see by the above photo. So we are hoping a new transfer PIPE will work better than the transfer ditch.
Fuzzy still likes to help us out, but he rides now instead of running
And Boomer ?…. Well, Boomer has fit right into his new life here at the farm.
Have a nice weekend everyone!
Linda

Holy catfish!
Terry is laying all that pipe by himself????
He should be re-named – “The Marathon Man”.
It is incredible the amount of work involved with farming success
in your area.
Hope the cold doesn’t arrive for some time yet????
Cheers

That looks like a lot of work to keep the ditches clear. I hope the pipe works better too. Boomer is adorable 🙂

I’m glad to hear Boomer is fitting right in. They have lots of transmission pipe across the river in the irrigation……the sad thing about it is that all the trees that used to grow along the ditchbanks have died for lack of water 😦 It sure works better and doesn’t waste near as much.

Hard to believe that it is that time of year already! Its is so neat to beable to miles and miles, I am so used to seeing only a mile at most! The trees really hamper the distance!

Hi!!! You are still as busy as ever! That looks like a project that will really save some time and management on that canal. I hope it goes in smoothly.
Times been getting away from me lately. Striving for better!

That’s alot of work but the pipe should work much better than the cement ditch….
Did you get your corn harvested? How is your weather this weekend? We are VERY cold —20’s at nights… Too Cold for me. We have had a roaring fire going in our fireplace –all day today. Brrrrrrrr
Have a good weekend, Linda.

Oh nothing like a beagle to enjoy life to the fullest on a farm! Boomer is cute and one lucky little dog.
No more babbling brook through the fields though with the new pipe. But you would lose less to evaporation right? And if it was a ditch before, how will Terry get his fields irrigated from the pipe. Is it gated or ??

One ‘nice’ thing about farm life is that the work is never done — it doesn’t make any difference what the season is. Boomer looks as if he’s having the most fun on this project.

Just another comment from “Down Under” – I forgot when I posted the first entry.
That dog, “Boomer”, sure is a lucky dog and I agree wholeheartly, with the other commentators.

What a lot of work. But, beats cleaning the ditch each year, I’m sure. I followed you over from Just Another Day on the Prairie. Love your blog. I lived in Colorado Springs while I went to College and fell in love with Colorado as a whole. So so beautiful.

Wow, that look like a lot of work just to get the pipe in place, all under Fuzzy’s watchful supervision of course!
Hope the pipe makes it easier for you next year 🙂
Love looking at your country, it is so beautiful.

Boomer looks fabulous – a very lucky dog to be living with you. Like so many things, the initial hard work installing the pipe will be repaid when you don’t have to do the clearing work every spring
