A Mini-Heat Wave

The last two days we are having a mini-heatwave.  Which I am very much enjoying.  It won’t last. Saturday a windy snow storm is suppose to blow into our area.  Then the temps are suppose to plunge back down, but I’ll take whatever we can get!

Because of the slightly warmer temperatures (sure beat the minus stuff we were having) and the longer daylight hours the dogs and I like to go for evening walks.

Its sort of a struggle for Fuzzy, but he won’t hear of us leaving him behind, so we just walk slower. 🙂

Boomer is a goof….he runs everywhere, up there, back there, over there, he doesn’t care, just so he can run.

Since a pack of feral dogs attacked and killed all my hens, I don’t mind these little hawks (falcon?) hanging around.  This one sits on this branch every evening when I’m out walking.  Searching for that daring mouse, I suppose.

Since it’s late (after five in the evening) the geese are starting to land in the corn field.  I had to try my hand at photographing them…I’m not very good.

The air is thick with their honks.  It’s really cool.  They are one thing I miss when spring comes.

The only other real news is the sheep across the road from us have arrived

I always enjoy seeing them hit the fields.  They never stay in one place always traveling here and there and everywhere.

This girl was just pointed in the right direction by the sheep dog.  I didn’t get his photo as he was just tooooo busy to pause for me to click the camera.

There are a lot sheep here, when you consider they are covering 160 acres!

Here is the last of the car photos I’m going to share.  I guess you have an idea of the type of car Terry likes. 🙂 🙂

Well, I’m off to enjoy the last of the afternoon sun and mini-warmth!  No wind, no clouds, now snow.  YAY!

  1. Wonderful day here too, Linda. Guess it’s the calm before the storm…

Dumb question here from a non-farmer… Is there a fence to keep the sheep in those fields –or do the dogs keep them there????? That’s a heck-of a lot of sheep…

Glad your doggies enjoyed being outside –as much as I’m sure you did.
    Hugs,

  2. We’ve had a mini heat wave too although ours was only about 33*, down right balmy. It’s storming again right now again though…..I hope it doesn’t get down that far.

  3. When my kids were small I always told them I wanted a Corvette for my birthday. I never got one.
I’m glad to see you enjoying the warmer weather. Our temperatures finally got above freezing. It’s really nice.

  4. It has been cold here today – frosty this morning! We are surrounded by sheep here – all of them now very pregnant. I always start to feel better when the days lengthen – all I need now is some sunshine.

  5. It’s 70* here!!! But the cold front is to come thru at midnight tonight :(. In Iowa it was a minus 8* at night and in the teens in the daytime. It’s good to be back to some warmer weather for a couple of days. Your puppies look so happy to be out and about-love your little beagle. Are you to get snow with the cold front? We could if it is not too dry, so I’m hoping! Have a great weekend.

    Blessings!

  7. Sunshine—-what is that? We have had temps in the upper 30’s this week but the fog has returned leaving us with gloomy gray days. The prediction is for sunshine next week but back to an Artic flow of cold. Maybe it will firm up our road that has been more mud than gravel this winter.

  8. No heat wave but the sun finally showed itself yesterday afternoon and this morning.
Southwest lower Michigan is waiting to get dumped on. Weather is calling for 12-18 inches of snow between tomorrow and Wednesday evening. Oh joy. Come on spring.

  9. Love the sheep! I think your pictures of the hawks are great! When the geese leave your winter camping grounds, they come here! We get them by the hundreds in the early spring. They fly overhead for weeks in the spring and again for weeks in the fall. It’s a beautiful sight! I love the geese. A few stay nearby and we see them all summer.
