History Really Does Repeat Itself

Many years ago I used to walk all the way down the lane to the bus stop, the family dogs with me, to wait for the kids to get off the bus and tell me about thier day at school.

Who would have thought that many years later I would get the same opportunity, only this time I would ride the four-wheeler down, with two dogs amd the littlest grandchild?  We wait at the end of the lane, tossing pebbles in the irrigation ditch, looking for bugs, and finding pretty stones until the bus comes.

Then a fast trip down the little dirt road to an after school snack, fun for Grammy conversation, a little down-time until 5:00 p.m.  Then its homework time and usually Dad is home to get the kids.

I like the fact that this history did repeat itself.

  1. I loved this post… I still have’t given up on the dream of moving back to the ranch. Or any ranch for that matter.

  2. That is so cool! Those kids will remember being with you when they are grown. I remember very fondly the times we spent at my grandparents house.

Loved your clouds as always and your doggie stories.
Found anna’s letter very interesting. Made me look for Longmont history or peoples letters and newspaper articles from the past. I have had no luck. Where to look??
Have you read ‘Half Broke Horses’ by Jeannette Walls. You would like it.

  4. Loved this – I love when history repeats itself like that in the lives of our kids! It’s great that your grands have their grandparents to help raise them, too! Lots of kids don’t get to see much of their grandparents and I think they miss so much! Beautiful sky picture!
