Busy We Are

I don’t know what it is about a farm that can collect lots of junk on it.

Well, maybe I should say I don’t know about Terry and I — we seem to collect ‘stuff’.

All the time.

You just never know when you might need a part off of something, or maybe we will get around to fixing this item up so we keep it, or the kids bring us something that we really don’t want and don’t know what to do with so we keep it.

But now…44 years of collecting…has to end!

We’ve been cleaning.

Everything!

Everywhere!

And getting rid of stuff.

I call the kids….you want….okay we are getting rid of it. Β Oh, you want it…then we will bring it to your house–you get to keep it.

On and on we go…gradually everything is starting to improve, which is good.

I’m very tired of all the ‘stuff’/junk/trash around here.

I’m just about done painting all the fences and the outbuildings also.

Next week I will start on the outside of the house.

I don’t understand this need to fix and clean stuff up…but I’m going to follow the urge for as long as it takes me.

I really like this feeling of CLEAN!

  1. I’m with you on this, I’ve put up with everyone else’s collection of junk all my life. The problem with farm junk is it’s too big for me to handle by myself, plus my truck has become junk, too, so I have nothing to use to haul stuff away. Grrr. I’m the only female on this place, surrounded by the lifetime junk collections of 5 guys. When the north wind blows and I really get bitchy, I go online and try to figure out how to get my hands on some dynamite. Mostly though I just keep planting things to block the view. Hope you get enough money from all that scrap metal to take a really awesome vacation.

  2. I hear and understand every aspect of what you have said.
I will say though I find farms back in the Midwest so “clean” they become toooo sterile for my tastes. That won’t be the case here I sure.

  3. I know how you feel! I occasionally get the urge to clear out all the “stuff” around here too. Now we are moving at the end of July and are forced to get rid of it all. It’s amazing how much junk one family can accumulate…mostly me. I’m a hoarder – but no longer! I have unloaded so much stuff in the last month! It’s wonderfully liberating!

Good luck with your clean out! I know you’ll feel a lot better when it’s all done!

  4. I understand what you are saying completely, if i get more than two suitcases of clothes i panic.. john on the other hand keeps everything, Just In Case! sigh, though i have to admit we have reused quite a bit of it and it is not 40 something years of accumulation! c

  5. Holy Cow, my Friend… With THAT urge, I invite you to come and clean my house!!!! I neglect the inside most of the time –when I’m busy working in the yard (or on the computer)… ha…..

You are going to really be pleased once you get rid of all of the junk… That’s awesome.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  6. I’m with you—once the urge hits me, I have to go with it or I may not feel it again for several years. πŸ™‚ Glad you’re getting it done. Does the scrap yard pay for the metal?
