Boy! It is hot here!  The wind is even hot…pant, pant! Wheeze!

HOT

Good for growing crops, a tad hard on us.

Hot-canyons

( you can see the canyons of the Escalate and Dominguez as the sun sets)

The mornings are nice until around 10 o’clock then we bake until around 10 o’clock in the evening.  Makes for nice sleeping.

Hot-sunset

The birds are up and at’em at 4 in the morning…we agree with them…early shades of grey and cooler air helps get lots of stuff done.

Hummer-4

As the heat and the wind wear on…a nice little siesta (some cultures understand good living-that is for sure!)  works wonders for the brain and the soul and the body.

So far the water hasn’t been cut back anymore—knock on wood!  We are moving it every 12 hours, depending on the field.  Some fields we move the water every 6 hours.  If the amount of water can stay just like it is we will make it…fingers crossed.

The day is waiting and I’m sitting so must run now.

Hay

(an alfalfa bloom or two)

Have a good Thursday see you back here on Friday when the dogs take over the blog!

Linda

  1. Well—I’m just glad you are not getting rain… BUT–I’ll bet that heat is hard on you… We had more rain here yesterday –and have had 4 inches since Saturday.. The flowers love it –but so do the weeds… ha

Have a good day and stay cool.
    Hugs,

  2. But it’s a dry heat right ;>)…. We have to go outside early in the morning here too because it rains and rains later~ warm too, but not as hot as what you have. (I am kidding about the dry heat — that’s what people told us who live in Arizona all year…they didn’t mind the summers because it is a dry heat…and we thought , yes the kind that can parch your bones instantly!)

Sending good thoughts (seriously) about your water.

  5. Stay cool and drink a lot of water!!! For some reason this has brought back the most intense memory of my college roommate. She was southern like me but hated the heat. She’d whip up one of her family favorites: salted cucumbers on ice. I remember her lying in front of a fan eating iced cucumbers and doing just about nothing else. What do you do in Colorado to beat it?

  6. Your sunset photos are gorgeous. I hope the weather holds as far as the hay is concerned. But it sounds to me that a siesta is perfect for the temperatures you’re experiencing. I was surprised to learn, when I was teaching in China many years ago, that the Chinese, too, take a ‘siesta’.
