A horse belong to Edward Goddard took fright at a passing automobile on Delta’s Main street last Tuesday morning and raced around the corner of Main and Fifth with enough speed to cause everybody and everything to give undisputed right-of-way. The buggy trailing behind the Goddard horse went over and was considerably wrecked before the race was concluded.

I love to read these old stories. I am from a small town in OK….and have gathered/worked on my family heritage….and old stories…I have an album started for my kids one day..my great grandparents were pioneers here from Ark….love family stories that get passed down.and love reading the Old Stories from there…esp since you know so many of the people..my Granddad owned/operated the local Grocery, Dry Good, Mercantile himself for 68 years!!! my whole family worked there..so my siblings and I grew up on Main Street….I have starting writing some of my growing up stories…have great photos from the Blacksmith shop behind our Store..and early 1900’s pictures of inside of our Store..tin ceilings, wood floor, old country stove for heat..the new water cooler was an awesome add in!! LOL
love small towns and their stories..thanks Linda..got me going…..lol

I enjoyed this look into the past. I’ll bet horses taking fright at those new-fangled, noisy thing was a fairly common experience back then.
