Occasionally, readers of my blog share with me outstanding photos. That is one of the delightful joys of blog-land—people sharing bits and pieces of their lives with each one of us.
The three following pictures are from Gary E. West (a local boy who grew up and moved to a big city in Texas).
He was back in the Ouray/Ridgeway part of our world in early October where he took these photos.
Owl Creek Pass
Another of Owl Creek Pass
And Sleeping Indian mountains
Although, winter has now settled down on that part of the world we can still see the brilliant colors
Thank you so much, Gary. And Thank you for letting me share them with all of my readers!
Your friend
Linda
P.S. I took French and college and can only remember tiny little bits of the language…you have to use it or loose it, as they say. I wanted to say in French– Ton amitié m’est très précieuse but I’m not sure if I spelled it right or am saying it correctly, I hope I am. For all of your friendship is important to me.

wow! brilliant colors! thanks for sharing them!

And your friendship is most important to me as well! Not bad mon amie! Tres bien! I don’t know how to make the accent ligue on my keyboard! But you get my drift eh? I had six years of Parisian French. Would tell my Canadian French grandparents the correct way to say things and got in lots of trouble for my help! LOL Faulty now…but I do remember some! If they could just slow down! I am better at reading it.
Love the photos! That field of soft pastels is breathtakingly beautiful! 😀

My pleasure, Linda. I always enjoy the ones you post of the views from your place, wanted to return a little bit of the favor. I was back in that area at a perfect time — quakies just turning, and still shirt-sleeve weather.
As always, thank you for the connection to home.

Beautiful Beautiful pictures. I just love the white bark birch. They leaves make such a pretty noise when they flutter in the breeze.

Loved the pictures of fall in Ouray. My Dad was born in Pagosa Springs and this part of his early stomping grounds. It is beautiful country. The color is out of this world. Friendship and sharing just go together.

it’s funny how all our blogs are full of images and words that multiply and mutate out in the blogosphere. Triggering memories and feelings far outside our own sphere. Funny how I look at those beautiful photos, full of what I think are aspen trees (though I’m not even sure) and am whisked back to my two only experiences of Colorado. I was in high school, and my school offered the opportunity to us Tennessee girls to go Colorado (Keystone area) in the winter for a cross-country skiing week (+ environmental lessons) or a three week Rocky Mountain traverse in the summer with more seasoned mountaineers. I did both. I learned about aspens and willows and snowpacks…about going without snacks and physical comforts…and toughing it out. Carrying weight. Losing myself in nature. Building an igloo. Knowing the difference between water you could drink and water you couldn’t. Identifying different animal scat. Cooking johnny cakes over an open fire. Forging friendships that have lasted forever in my heart even if I haven’t seen those girls since….all that was bundled up in my glance of these photos. A journey away from here, where I am, deep into my past. What an amazing gift. And all based on trees which might not have been an aspens after all. And that’s without even getting into the French, which takes me on another trip entirely, but that story is for another day…maybe I’ll post it on my blog, in which case, thanks for the inspiration. I apologize for how long this is. Very sorry. x

Stunning images…I’ve only ever been to Colorado (in person) for Spring Break skiing back when I was a teen, but always wanted to visit in Autumn…this is (almost) as good 🙂
