The very deep freeze is here and will stay for some time. We woke-up to -6* (-21.11 c). Cold is relative I know. Some of you are seeing much colder temps than we are, but us, here…this is C.O.L.D!
It looked like snow lingered on Grand Mesa for most of the day. Today it is crisp and clear up there.
Terry and I were feeling housebound so we decided to go for a short drive…our neighbor was moving his 2-year olds into the corn field
We wanted to see what the snow level looked like ‘up-in-the-hills’. It’s starting to look very nice. If we continue to get more snow all through the winter water will not be as much of a concern as it was last year.
Come on snow!!
I thought the trees were extremely beautiful all decked out in their winter finery.
Today I need to finish up some Christmas shopping. Then I will need to get things for both Christmas meals…the Christmas Eve Dinner and the Christmas Day Dinner. I haven’t really decided which one to make the really big one–Turkey, ham, all the other dishes or the lighter one….lots of buffet foods…I’m leaning toward the Dinner at night and the buffet one on Christmas Day.
Usually, we have a treasure hunt in the afternoon of Christmas Day, but with the snow (and if it melts) the mud the thought just doesn’t appeal so I’m thinking we will play lots of games. Games and snacking and just enjoying each other seems like the way to go for a long Christmas Day.
Wishing each of you a really nice day today,
Your friend,
Linda

Cool photo of your Christmas tree reflected in the window and the corn field.
Great that you carry on the family traditions. We got a Panama Canal cruise from the 21-Jan 5. Art (Clark) went through it once and said it was a really incredible experience so that has been on my bucket list.
Had a sense that Dad stopped by to visit the other day – it was just this brief feeling/conversation. That was cool – always miss having them and the Thomas’s and Uncle Henry to talk to.
Been feeling a bit freaked about getting old. If I live to Dad’s age, I’ve only got 11 years. And I still have 3 of those to work until I can get on medicare and 4 to social security!
Love you
d

Yes, that is COLD…. We have had cold temps here –but nothing like you all have had… We did get some ice/sleet/snow early this morning–enough to cancel schools… BUT-it’s over and the sun is supposed to come out!
Had a nice service for Dad Adams yesterday –and got to see many old friends and family members. We also enjoyed a family lunch together. Dad is in a better place now… Thanks be to God.
Hugs

I think you have a perfect way for celebrating Christmas with the family. Your picture of the trees in the snow is beautiful, and I hope you get a lot more of the white stuff this winter.

It was up in the 20’s this morning here and of course, windy. Yesterday’s wind scoured the snow off in lots of places so now we have big drifts some of which are frosted with dirt! And now it’s snowing again. I love when the snow is piled in the trees. Looks so nice.
I’m hoping that all this early snow will help our water too.
Now, what makes you think the snow might melt and turn into mud for Christmas Day? Are you expecting spring? Actually, we don’t very often have snow on the ground for Christmas and it isn’t unusual for it to be warm! Such a strange climate.

Love the picture of the trees decked out for winter! It was 8 degrees in Norman, OK this morning, and hasn’t been above freezing since last Thursday, when we had a sleet/ice storm, followed by a snowstorm on Friday, and an earthquake on Saturday! This is the longest I’ve seen snow on the ground here in a long time – it usually melts away the same day (or at the most the next day) it falls!

My IPad thought I was through before I really was…. just wanted to say that it looks much more Christmasy at your house than at mine. The snow is so pretty on the trees.

You are so right about cold being relative. I can remember living in a place where 30 seemed balmy and now 50 is freezing…

We’re meeting friends at Picadilly – a cafeteria style restaurant – on Christmas for lunch. 🙂
Someday we’ll fry that turkey breast we bought.
Stay warm and have a great afternoon!

The trees are quite pretty in their powdered sugar sprinkles. That would be a sight to behold, I’ve never seen that many cattle in my life! I guess you do need the snow, you aren’t surrounded by water like we are.

Linda, that is a beautiful winter picture of the trees! Card worthy! I also like the picture with your Christmas tree reflected in the window. Hope it warms up a bit for you and keeps snowing in the mountains! You’ll get more water next year and the skiers will be happy. The cattle will sure be happy to have a corn field to glean, too.
A bit chilly but dry here….6* here this a.m. and 42* during the day, with a cold south wind. Got my shopping for Christmas all done today!! We will have brunch and Christmas Dinner at my DD’s on Christmas Day.
Take care….blessings!

What glorious photos LInda, the trees are exquisite…
love the two-year olds, are you going to keep us up to date on them like last year… I loved hearing all about them…
We always play charades after Christmas dinner, and that means gales of hysterical laughter… and even now the grand children are in their late teens and early twenties, they still demand the ritual charades !!! still babies !!!!
