It’s Still Raining Here February 10, 2014

We went from days and days of this

Sam-and-Snow

to two days of rain and warmer weather, which produced this

Rain

But yesterday, we were on the Uncompaghre Plateau (Un-come-pah-gray) enjoying the snow.

We had a great time at Max’s place.  He had his roads all packed down so we could sled and sled and sled.

FunEveryone went, Max, Terry, Misty and Kelly, all the little kids and even me!

Up and down most of the day we went.  Then when the little one was getting tired and cranky and whiny we stopped and cooked hot dogs and marshmallows in Max’s fire pit.

DownMax and Grandpa even proved to the little ones, you are never to old to go down a hill fast

I must admit that when we got home, Terry and I took an hour long nap.  We were a little tired.  I called the grandchildren later and the only person who took a nap was their Dad.

Today is cloudy and overcast and raining; but later on in the week we are supposed to hit 59-60* with sun.  Sun!!! Sun helps dry up all the rain.  WHOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!

Your Friend,

Linda

  1. Sounds like you had a wonderful time and the pictures were great.

Take heart…..the Canadian geese have started arriving here. The first sign that spring is coming. Slowly, but coming nevertheless.

  2. Oh how blessed! Family, sleds, hot dogs and marshmallows cooked outside on a snow-packed day. Sounds like heaven. And even though the rain brings mud, I rejoice with you for the moisture. Hope we get some too on the front range.

  5. How fun! I love sledding. It is tiring though. Up and down.. We are suppose to warm up and melt our snow. I hope so. This cold and snow is hard on the babies. Even with straw and shelter.
I put in a full day today. Felt good to get out among the mamas and babies.

  6. We’re in for stormy weather over the next few days, and not nearly as warm as you have. That made quick work of your snow. I remember riding down and pulling the sled back up the hill. It didn’t take long to tire of that! It always took longer to get back up than it did riding down.

  7. How fun!!! Just what I needed! ONE year it got cold enough, long enough that the lake froze at some friend’s. Everyone gathered there, day after day to skate and they kept a bonfire going and it was one of the most magical times of my entire life. It seemed like it was a big lake at the time and the best skating ever, outdoors. I should go back now and see.

  8. The aftermath is never pretty, is it? Love seeing the pictures of sledding…how much fun. Grandparents, kids, dogs! The whole gang. It does not get any better than that. Was hot chocolate consumed that day? I’m imagining gallons.
