Among the Tears–Monday, August 25, 2014

LightThe last few days have been a flurry of ‘rush’.  A hurry, hurry-up, to cram in as much as we possibly can for the two little girls still with us.

Blade has already made the switch to being a Craig Middle School Bulldog…one of his practices had Bronco Great Rick Upchurch, helping with the training.  (How cool is THAT!!!?)  I looked for Bladen, he is Number 1, but I couldn’t find him amongst the others.  🙂

Practice-1There was lots and lots of archery practice with Grandpa

TryingEven Tally started to learn.

We had kids over to spend the night, and Linkin went to spend the night with her Best Friend Forever.  Tallin went with Aunt Shannon and Jason to trim horses hooves (15 horses…she even got to ride one!!!)

Gradually we had to start packing—the time was coming to an end.

Then Mom-mo arrived ready to pick up her kids, critters and all the stuff that went with them.

Pigs

After Mom-mom packed the van full of suitcases, bikes, and pillows— the critters loaded–first the Guinea pigs, WaitingHank Puff, who actually seemed as sad as Linkin. He even went around giving Fuzzy and Boomer kisses…who would have thought that.

Going-HomeThe last to go in was the bunny, Snowball.

A flurry of kisses and hugs then the little girls were loaded.  Suddenly Linkin called out…her voice clogged with tears….”I love you! I’ll Miss You!  It was never supposed to be this way!”  Then we were all crying…huge silent tears.

The van pulled away…little hands waving frantically out the window.  We stayed and watched gradually the van became a just a white dot.

From-JanToday, as I write this, they are in school.  All of them.  A good thing.  Busy minds heal broken hearts.

Out in my garden I saw the beautiful cheerful California Poppies, that Jan sent to us after our horrible fire three years ago.  Bright, cheerful, signs of hope and regrowth.

We are all going to make it…But each of you already know that, many of you have sent words of encouragement and kindness.  I promise I will not belabor the fact they have journeyed onto a new adventure.  I will send them hope and love and good wishes.  I will not cry but look forward to visits!

I, too, will move forward!

Light-on-the-clouds

Your farm friend,

Linda

  1. Oh –this made me cry… I know what you are going through and I know how much it hurts… God Bless You and Terry. BUT–with God’s help, life goes on –and things are just the way they are meant to be…. You WILL get to see them again (probably sooner rather than later)… Just be thankful they are only 3 hours away and not MUCH farther….

Cry, Linda… It’s good for you..
    Love you bunches,
    Betsy

  2. Sush bittersweet times, but you always have such a great attitude, Linda. I can just picture the Hank-Fuzzy-Boomer farewell. Somehow they always seem to know.

  3. When my youngest child went off to college far away, a friend said, “You’ll get used to it. You’ll never like it, but you’ll get used to it.” I think about that all the time, since now we live half a continent apart and I still hate it. And you know, that’s good! Wouldn’t it be awful for our hearts if we got to the point where we didn’t mind the separation? But…it still stinks. I sure understand what you’re going through and my heart goes out to you!

  4. Oh you dear, dear woman. Packing those precious remaining days full of as many happy memories as possible. Those children are so lucky to have YOU in their lives. I truly believe that. And vice versa. What gifts you all are to each other. I’m happy that you are blessed with so much love, Linda. And I feel for you. I know how it tugs at you. But, yes, just look forward to that next visit with all you’ve got!! xx from over here.

  5. I’m glad you were able to have that wonderful week with the girls. I know they are now busy in school, and I hope they all do well. I’m pretty sure you and Terry are already planning a visit to their new home.

  6. We’ll have to find more work for you to do, too. 🙂 I’m sure Fuzzy and Boomer will help with that. A fresh, new chapter begins.

  7. You have such sweet memories of those grandchildren living next door and now, you will begin new memories with them living further away. It surely is not easy making these life changes, but, with time, we make it through. I know you will be putting more miles on your vehicles now!! Three hours is quite a ways to go, but somehow we grandparents gladly do it!!!

Warm hugs and blessings to you and Terry!

  8. I will try again…first comment disappeared! You have such sweet memories of when your grandchildren lived next door and now you will begin new memories of when they are further away. I know you will be putting more miles on your vehicles, but somehow we grandparents never mind the travel!

Warm hugs and blessings to you and Terry!

  9. You helped make beautiful memories that will help all of you move forward. You also taught taught your grandkids a very valuable lesson on how to handle change, something they will experience many more times in their lives. Blessing of comfort for you since even though we deal with change it isn’t painless. Mary

  11. Sending hugs your way … it has to help that your family is moving for such a positive reason. But it must be like going through the empty nest thing all over again (like when your kids first went away for college … bittersweet.) Lonely but happy for them all at the same time. Must also help that you have so many friends (real and virtual) to help you as you transition. (Those are such sweet pictures from your blog friends above).
