Linda Pierson from Just Another Day on the Prairie in Alberta, Canada, said I could use this photo of a bull snake sunning itself. A friend of her’s took the photo. It is such an unusual place to find bull snake I just had to share it will all of You!
On barbed wire no less!
Hope you enjoy!

Whoa! That’s scary on many levels. I think that snake is trying to show how tough he is. Napping on barbed wire! Super-tough. Can’t argue with that!

Amazing shot thanks Linda. We don’t have snakes in New Zealand, thankfully.

I have been scared by that snake photo twice this week…I hope it was caught on the barbed wire and died there :0 🙂

I don’t like snakes. Is this snake poisonous ?

Um- so very few occassions that I’m glad to be exactly where I am but this is most definitely one of them! So not a snake person although he looks very relaxed and comfy if that’s possible!

Incredible photograph Linda. Apart from the ‘pose’ the very size of it makes our little Grass snake very feeble.

That is a very fine snake! And such a good fellow to have around. Eats rodents and gophers and isn’t dangerous. Although, if you really annoy them by picking them up incorrectly they will bite…(wonder how I know that?)

Great picture! Thanks for sharing Linda’s picture with us. I’m not fond of snakes, but I will tolerate bull snakes as they are great a keeping the vermin down and I’ve heard people say here that if one has bull snakes, you won’t have rattlesnakes around. Don’t know if that is true or not, but sure sounds good to me!
I love your header, Linda! Blessings!

Oh no no no no! Even though bull snakes are good mousers and I don’t mind them in the barn. I sure wouldn’t like to see one on the fence!!

What strikes one is the way these creatures achieve balance. And notice the way he has taken a ‘grip’ on the post! Wonderful.
Without wanting to scare You, would like to share that in India, we find them at times, more often at night, draped on Gates! Since many of our gates are flimsy ones, just to keep out stray goats and all, We keep opening and closing them quite often indeed.
What I mean to say is, Watch out in these ways too. Regards.
