Onefly sent me two photos!
They are amazingly ‘cool’ because he was actually able to snap the photos fast enough to have the wings stopped. I’ve tried and tried and tried and all I ever get is a blur.
Really neat photos, don’t you think?
It froze last night. Our first heavy frost of the year. Now I have a whole set of ‘other jobs’ to do in the yard. They will have to wait as we are still at the other house. Hopefully by the end of this week we will have everything inside done. All that will be left is the furnace. That is going to be a HUGE job…of course it is either under the house or in the attic. We are looking at a high efficiency (propane) furnace to replace the one that is there.
Our daughter and the two granddaughters are coming this weekend. YAY!!! Grandpa and I can hardly wait!
Anyway, we are getting closer…those words are always nice to say.
Your friend,
Linda

love the hummingbird moths! and first frost… brrr…

Amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen wings that weren’t a blur,
Are you going to do the furnace by yourselves? That seems like an enormous undertaking,

I don’t envy the furnace job you and Terry have to do, but I am glad you will be seeing your granddaughters over the weekend.

We are beginning to see very light frosts here too and are leaving our car in the garage at night, otherwise the screen is hard to clean in the morning.

Beautiful pictures! We have these lovely moths here, too. It got to 25 degrees night before last…brrrrrrr. I am soooo not ready for winter. Today we are having an alkali dust storm because there is no water in Goose Lake.

Those hummingbird moths are so cool. We have them here, and I love them.
We are slowly cooling. Sweatshirt weather. It does feel nice. I hate to admit! Lol!

Those ARE amazing photos – the moths really seem to hover over the flowers. I like gas heating myself, not that we need it here, but when I lived in the UK it was my favourite; instant heat, very efficient and cost effective, and it uses less space inside the house.

Hard to capture such fleeting creatures. Good shot, Linda. I am surprised to read about the frost. Is it always that early for you? So happy for you to get to see your family this weekend. Enjoy!

Goodness, your hard freeze comes so much earlier than ours, but that’s to be expected I guess.
Hooray for grandkids!!!!

Thanks Linda and it needs to be said wings of this insect do not beat anywhere close to the speed of a hummingbird that you are having problems with. When I get a hummingbird’s wings to stop you will be the first to know. Season’s over and there weren’t many around.

Great photos – Thanks for sharing. Good luck with the furnace. That will be a huge job, and oh so nice when it’s done.

Love One Fly’s picture of the hummingbird moths. They are fun to watch, but I do hate the tomato worm that makes into the moth!! They can ruin a tomato plant in no time. I’ve had several of the moths around to watch this Summer/Fall. Did you notice the little lizard in the picture, too?!
Love your header! So glad to hear that you get to see your daughter and granddaughters!!
Blessings!
