We were in Delta, Thursday afternoon, when we drove down a side street and saw a HUGE group of people gathered on a sidewalk corner staring, pointing, and taking photos.
Coming to a stop at the stop sign we lookedto where everyone was pointing and we saw
A BEAR!
Here is a story about the bear.
What a huge beautiful bear!
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda

Oh, I know they must be a nuisance for some people, but they are so beautiful, aren’t they? I just love them. So sad that there’s not enough food on the mountain…why is that?

It was way too dry this year and no rain so they had to find food. We’ve had them in our cornfield and even walking down our road. They are beautiful but deadly to sheep, goats, and calves as they will kill and eat them.
But like you I find them WONDERFUL!

People think they are cute and cuddly and often get too close but they can be deadly.

They are deadly. And they are look cute and cuddly because of that wonderful little toy called Teddy Bear! You are so right!

I’ll bet that bear wishes the people had left earlier so he have gotten down in time for supper! Good pictures.

A bit bigger than a koala, eh?
I think I’d rather meet a koala in the backyard than your “cuddly” bear!

Awww! Some very mixed feelings here. We have so encroached on them that there is nothing for them to do anymore. Just sad what humans do to the natural world. I’ll pop over and check the story. Hope it has a good ending.

It does. The big reason we are seeing so many is the fact they have no food in the high country. We were too dry and then a late freeze killed all the berries. They are hungry now.

Glad for the happy ending (so far anyway)… poor bears.
