The smoke is back, low-hanging and thick
As I turned and straighten bales, I thought to myself
How the low-hanging smoke closes in on the earth
Making the farm feel silent
Reminding each of us, how fragile we really are.
The sun turns red; the sky orange and yellow
Creating a restless foreboding…a sense of doom.
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda
I’m sorry the smoke is back. You gave an excellent description of the feelings when under a smoke-filled sky.

It IS interesting how the smoke changes the feel of a place. So sad…

I agree, LInda. I live in south central Kansas , south of Wichita. We had the smoke here 2 weeks ago .it does make every thing feel strange. The sun always looks very sharp and even wearing sunglasses. it still looks to bright. Take care of moving the bales, that a snake has not hide under the bale. But you know that.

So sad about the fires out west, I sure hope they get them under control soon…it looked real scary on the news.

It sure does. I feel so bad for all of them.

On a positive note, the smoke makes for lovely sunset shots.

Enjoying the pictures of the hay bales and the row of irrigation tunes. Bringing back so many memories of growing up by Windsor years ago moving the tubes and carrying bales. We don’t see this where we live now in Nebraska. So glad I found your blog today.
