The swallows have left. They are gone. Fall has arrived.
No, I didn’t get to see them leave. They left Sunday while we were in Marble.
My hummingbirds are slowly thinning out.
I’ve gone from 6 feeders daily. Now to four.
They are so hungry. So cute. So special.
Fall is in the air now. Cool morning and warm days. Heading toward that season I dread.
Sigh!

Do the birds leave California also? I would think they would like it there year round

Yea! Fall!
I wish the birds would stay awhile longer, but they know their journey is long
Winter.
I know.
You & Bob dread winter… to say the least.

We are only seeing one or two hummers a day and they wake up late, after it warms up a lot. I’m not ready For the coming season either!

Fall is lovely, but never lasts long enough. Then it’s (winter) and it goes on and on and on. 😦

I don’t like to wish ill on any birds, but I wish the sacred ibis would leave my back yard… they poop over everything, steal the chickens’ food and are generally a nuisance. They’re popularly known as bin chickens here, for their ugly habit of raking through rubbish in search of food. Swallows, on the other hand, are beautiful, graceful and peaceful. I envy you!

Oh! Do the Sacred Ibis migrate? Do the birds there even migrate?

No, it’s native here, and hard to get rid of. Birds here do migrate; we’re the summer holiday destiination for a lot of species!

As we are. But our summer seems to last not long enough.

My swallows (here in east central Wisconsin) left on Saturday and today the flocks of geese were flying very high.

Tee Hee, this year I have had a very hard time in the heat so fall will be welcome.

Our hummers are fighters and only allow one bird at the feeder at once. Yes Fall is coming on fast:(

We get the Rufus that will fight other birds—that is one reason I have so many feeders. It’s hard to defend lots of feeders. 🙂

We are getting the first break here on Monday. Yes, fall is in the air. Palpable. I know how much you hate winter. Sorry.
