I was raking leaves, sticks, and other debris when I looked up
And saw (hanging very securely) in the swaying limbs of my Thankful tree
A wasp home—I left it there. Letting the pear tree soothe the little wasps to sleep for the winter—-waiting warm and snug; until the scent of green leaves and tree bark awaken these small creatures for another busy year.

Wasps are getting new respect these days as pollinators! We’ve seen more in the garden this year. I’m glad you respect them, too. They deserve respect as part of the web of life, too, regardless of their job.

I do respect them. I also really don’t want to have one bite me—I get very sick.

Respect and caution are both appropriate.

That looks like a huge nest!
I’d hide.

I wonder if it will get bigger next year?

I am afraid I’d make it disappear…
I wonder how many years it’s been there.
