Winter is a tad fragile—-even though it doesn’t seem so.
Spring, Summer, and Autumn all depend on Winter and winter’s gift of snow/water and terribly cold and freezing temperatures.
Water—Winter’s Gift to all of us.
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda

Lulu: “This is true, a lot of our water here comes from the snowpack up in the mountains! I sure wish Mama and Dada would take me to see the snow some time …”
Java Bean: “Dada complains that we can’t get good pears here in California because it doesn’t get cold enough for them. He also complains we can’t usually get McIntoshes, which I don’t know what he is talking about because we have Mac computers all over the house.”
Lulu: “Yes we have computers but Dada is talking about apples.”
Java Bean: “Ayyy, so am I!”

You let your Dada know I will send him pears and a MacIntoshes come fall. I’m making a note of it now.

Lulu: “Ooh, thank you, that is very kind and thoughtful of you! But California has all sorts of rules and laws about shipping produce into the state and we wouldn’t want you to have any trouble with that!”

It may be cold and windy, but it has its own beauty and the water we all need.
Enjoy this week of warm temps! I think our snow just might melt away ~ just in time for more 🙂

If the weatherpeople are right we are looking at a week of rain/snow starting Thursday.

We definitely notice the lack of cleansing cold with our insect population. Cooler weather means they are just less active, they don’t go away. And no winter chill means no flowering bulbs or pome or stone fruit.

I know. We are going to have insect problems this coming summer, I think.

I hope winter will bring you plenty of water this year. We’ve had snow and rain over the past two weeks, but officially we’re still in a drought here on the plateau. Bummer!
