When we were kids (4 of us) and it was hot and we were putting up hay, Mom and Dad would drive us 30 miles to the nearest A&W for a frosty mug of root beer at 8 p.m., or so. That happened 2 or 3 times a year. It was really refreshing after a hot day of slinging hay bales. Of course, when we got home it was back to haying for most of the night. The cows were milked precisely at 4:30 a.m. so it meant a short night’s sleep, if any at all for Dad. It was incredibly hard work but what an upbringing.

Good for you getting out with the old car! WE were supposed to go to a car show today, but the weather looked like rain and possibly hail…so Tilly stayed in the garage:)
