I Love Irrigating—-Yes, I Do, Thursday, May 16, 2024

I love seeing the water flowing down the ditch.  Into the siphon tubes.  Then onto the roots of the growing plants.

The sound of the water…moving, moving feeds my soul.

The Rhythm of the Season—Wednesday, May 15, 2024

In what we think of as silence—

The baby corn poked up through the soil

The grass softly developed swaying stems which will soon bloom

The alfalfa has grown to calf high—-

Reminding us always that growth is the rhythm of the earth’s blood.

And Then the Rains Came — Tuesday, May 14, 2024

Filling the air with lovely (but very cold) drops of rain, and huge wind; gifting all things.

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

(and no, the changing of irrigation doesn’t stop because it rained.  The rain only made the first 1/8″ of the soil wet.  BUT it did wash off all the plants and trees! 🙂 )

Listen Carefully to the Earth as It Falls Asleep —- Sunday, May 12, 2024

Quietly stop wherever you are and listen

To the sounds of the earth

Falling sleep.

Gradually, gradually the birds, the animals, the insects, the plants, and even the sky

Say Good Night!—as they drift off into the land of dreams.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-MOM! It’s Cold Outside!, Friday, May 10, 2024

MOM!  It’s cold outside.  I don’t care that it’s green and warm looking it is still cold!

Well, let’s go in then and get you warm.  🙂

(We’ve been having a cold, cold front move through.  It is very cold.  I’m ready for it to warm back up —  so is Boo Berry)

TLC loves it colder!

HAWK!! Wednesday, May 8, 2024

“You must never judge who God forgives and who he does not”.:  Bless Me, Ultima, by Rudolfo Anaya

Hide little birds (by the barrels) there is a hawk in the air!

Ah, Red-Tailed Hawk you are stunningly beautiful

It’s so hard to see you kill—but you also, must eat.

Who am I to judge, who am I?

From my world to your heart,

Linda

There are Times — Tuesday, May 7, 2024

I must admit

There are times when my thoughts

Are not as perky as they should be.

When a weight seems to weigh heavy

A nose-dive, to be sure.

But it never, ever fails…that when I’m in a funk…the earth gives to me a heart.

How can I stay in a dark place

When there are amazing gifts everywhere?

I am truly blessed!  As you are too, all we have to do is look.

From my heart to your world,

Linda

Planting Corn! Monday, May 6, 2024

Terry has the corn planted.  He took two hayfields out of production — they have grown old.

And planted corn!

Now, the only thing left to plant is our new alfalfa field.  Soon!  Real soon, but not just yet.
