Off We Go — Tuesday, January 21, 2025

It’s time— we needed to go get another load of firewood–

It’s been cold here.  Wind, skiffs of snow—Brrrrrrrrrrr.

The wood is the perfect heat for a nasty winter day!

  1. I have cut my own firewood for fifty years but the time is coming when I’ll have to buy it. My 73 year old shoulders no longer cooperate with my chainsaw. I will greatly miss that activity. There’s something special about self-reliance.

  2. Chaplin: “Wow, that’s a lot of wood!”
Charlee: “Dennis told us that Tucker told him that when Mama and Dada lived in New York with him and Trixie, they had lots of dead trees around and Dada would split them with an axe or a hammer and a wedge. Can you believe it?”
    Lulu: “No.”
    Charlee: “Why not?”
Lulu: “You know how accident-prone Dada is. If he were doing that back in New York, do you really think he would still have all his hands and feet?”

  3. I’m glad you were able to get more firewood without too much trouble. i miss the wood fires we used to have when I could split our own wood. We now have a propane fireplace. It’s nice, but not AS nice as raw wood fireplace.
