Someone up above us—turned down a whole bunch of water—it washed us out — and the field above us — and the field where the canal turned onto our farms.
Too much water all at once, full of weeds and trash makes for a really mess situation.
What a mess we had and are still dealing with.
Sigh!
Oh, well. With the sun and the wind, we will gradually dry up.
Alamort (adj.) Half-dead of exhaustion.
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda

I didn’t really want to ‘like’ this tale of disaster, but felt I had to acknowledge your resignation to the vagaries of nature… I hope the clean up is less arduous than it seems. Don’t wear yourself too thin.

We finally got everything under again. It was a mess that took a little time, but we got it 🙂

Luckily, the water drained away fairly quickly. It did wash the gravel out of the driveway and into the grass. We need new gravel now, but haven’t gotten it yet.
We did have crayfish wash into the yard. They started building their homes. I don’t think they’ll survive.

I am sorry about posting my comment on your site. When the comment about the flood and clean up showed up in WordPress, I didn’t look close enough to realize it wasn’t on my post about our flooded front yard.
We did have a bit of an adventure!

But yours was your front yard which is much worse. Ours was out on the farm

Well, it was very dramatic for us. It was between a foot high and 18”, preventing us from driving out. The road was also flooded. The flood waters receded quickly.

What! Can you find who did it? How inconsiderate.
I know it will dry, but dang.

Water’s too valuable in Western Colorado to be so careless! Take care. Glad to see you are recovering. One guarantee, dry country will always dry out.
