Thick, beautiful, lush ALFALFA!

Dad always watched our alfalfa like a hawk. When he saw the first bloom it was panic mode for the family. No matter the time of day, the mower was put to work with me on it. We worked day and night until the hay was baled and (hand) stacked in the hay sheds or barn.

Your Dad had to have perfect protein filled hay. 🙂

We didn’t swath back in those days. We mowed, raked and then baled after dark when the dew came on so that we didn’t lose any leaves. The nutrients are in the leaves, not the stems.
