We are set.  Unless our winter is over-the-top cold..

Then we have to do more.  We do have a cord of wood still to split. So I think we are fine.

(Caught on the game camera—I wanted to see if the deer came into the yard, but they didn’t)

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda

  1. It heats us when we cut it, stack it, and then when we burn it! It’s always lovely to look at the finished stacks. Then the cat and dog start “hunting” the rows, looking for mice and other critters using them for shelter.

  2. Hi Linda. I am a new CO transplant coming from WA to live with my oldest daughter and family. We are in Castle Rock. I’m trying to learn about my new home state and ran across your blog so I’m interested reading more about the western slope. I follow another blogger who’s in Durango so that gives me great info on SW parts of the state.

  3. Lulu: “I have seen pictures of the big wall of chopped wood that our Mama and Dada had near their house in New York, and I have heard how my predecessor Trixie chased chipmunks all up and down it. I sure wish I had a wall of chopped wood like that here!”

Charlee: “Uh-huh, except ours would probably have rattlesnakes in it.”

    Lulu: “….. Never mind!”
