Many years ago, we were driving east on I-70 in Kansas when a large tumbleweed rolled right into with a loud bang. My husband was able to miss the other tumbleweed that tumbled past during the windstorm.
Yes, at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, we’d see dust devils pick up tumbleweed and spin them around. During one visit, we came across a huge pile of tumbleweeds blocking a door underneath the Bision Overlook. It was fun to see.
Lulu: “When Mama and Dada first moved here, they had these prickly bushes with little white flowers growing on the hill! It wasn’t until the end of summer when they dried up and snapped off and started rolling around the yard that they realized they were tumbleweeds.”
