We Headed to the Uncompaghre to Check out the Snow — Monday, April 13, 2026

We drove clear to the top—

The snow-pack is pretty slim.

Nothing like it should be this time of year.

The melt is happening F.A.S.T

With the willows and the aspens starting to wake up.  Everything is about three weeks early.

This water situation is really fraught with concern this year.

Scary, even.

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda

  1. Java Bean: “Ayyy, not good, not good! We got a little bit of rain here yesterday but not very much. Enough for Dada to turn off the sprinklers for a while though. Meanwhile back East there is flooding everywhere, the pictures Dada has seen from his friends and family have been crazy!”Lulu: “Too bad they can’t send that water out this way …”

  2. Yea, I’ve tossed it in the scary category ~ I wish Feds & State folks in charge of “campers & hikers, etc.” would just close everything down this year. It’s not worth it. Visitors just do not understand the stakes & how bad the situation really is.
