Walking on the Farm —- Sunday, May 24, 2026

Despite almost no water (we are locked down to only 9 to 10 tubes of water), the alfalfa is looking good.

Normally, we have about 40 tubes going.  Not now.  We just keep working at keeping everything wet.  It is hard, but soooooo far, fingers crossed, we can do so.

There is a warm wind, the sky is stunning, and the alfalfa is green.

Home/farm solace, simplicity, and quiet.

Life on a Colorado farm,

  1. It is so beautiful! Glad your alphalfa is doing well.

I had no idea that cutting the number of tubes was how they were cutting your water usage. A very scary situation.

I wish they would close down the mountains. Pine beetle leftovers, no water & tourists- not good. Heck the north Twin Lake is dry 😭

    • Oh, gosh! It’s so terribly hard and sad this year. And if we don’t get snow and lots of it
this winter. There will be no water for anyone next year.

      Sigh

    • It’s a lot lot less. We do too. They are cutting us was back so our part of the state can help fill Lake Powell. Sending water and Electricity to all of you. 🙂

  2. I’m sorry to hear about the water restrictions you are now operating under, but I am glad that the alfalfa is looking so good, although it is a lot of extra work for you. Hopefully you will start getting some rain soon.
