Update on the Porcupine Quill — Wednesday, July 15, 2026

(Aren’t these cute?)

I’m still fighting the infection from getting stabbed by that ONE porcupine quill.  They can’t seem to find the right medication to get the infection out of my body and GONE!

I still can’t walk very well, although I do try to keep on keeping on.  I told my family doctor that if I don’t keep walking, (at my age) by the time this is all over, I won’t be able to walk.

Anyway—who would have thought one quill? Lying on the ground (for who knows how long) could cause weeks and weeks of tremendous pain, swelling, and lack of mobility.

So—here I am.  Crippled in both feet.  The infection threw me into gout in the other foot.

MESS!

That is what I am.

So onward we go.

Gradually!

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda

  1. Oh wow 😲 You’ve really “been through the mill” as we say over here! One quill and all that damage? That is really nasty. I hope you make a speedy recovery. Stay strong and keep battling on! You will get there but it sounds like youre going to have to be a tough little cookie with this infection but never let those feet stop walking! You’ve got this! 👍💯🤗

  2. I know it’s difficult for you to slow down. Farmers – am I right? LOL. But you can’t rush healing, so you may need to slow down some at least. Don’t play with an infection. Give it the time it needs. Prayers that you turn the corner soon and heal quickly and completely.
