Yes they take chunks off I swear. We have them, greenheads at our beaches, sand fleas, ticks carrying god only knows what and the also deadly mosquito and gnats why do I feed my birds lol.

Sand fleas are at the ocean mostly though the home I was raised in down in MA has them as it was a sandy lot.
