We decided to drive up and see how low Blue Mesa Reservoir is — this is where we get our irrigation water (and what helps fill Lake Powell —- therefore, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and California)
This is terribly sad. It’s heartbreaking really.
They are saying we are in need of five years of really heavy, deep snows. Terry says— yes, and five years of NOT using the water so it can actually fill up the reservoirs.
Gosh. It’s all so sad and scary.
Here are prayers for moisture. Lots and lots of moisture.
For everyone and everything and all things.
From my world to your heart! May Blessings Abound for all.
Linda

Oh my. 😪 That is heartbreaking. We’ve seen it low before, but this is way beyond that. I’ve seen a couple photos of people walking way out towards the middle – no water. And apparently you can see the old town. I’ll have to see if my rain stick can be a snow stick.

Iola’s foundations are there. But The town in the bottom of the canyon: Sapinero you can’t. It would have to be totally dry to see it

Java Bean: “Ayyy, that water level is way down for sure! Our Dada says there’s a reservoir back in New York called Delta Lake and when it gets really low you can see where the town of Delta used to be, with the foundations and roads and such. Kind of spooky, isn’t it?”

Yes it is. There are two towns under this lake. We can now see the foundation of Iola

While I’m happy you were able to get a break, I am sorry that it only reinforced how bad your water situation truly is. I hope you get lots of snow (and rain) in the moths ahead.

We left half the farm to sit. Then only watered the alfalfa. It was hard but we made it
