My name is Linda Brown. I live on a farm on the western slope of Colorado, in the high mountain desert. I’ve lived here all my life, hailing back four generations on my father’s side. Today I blog about our farm, the everyday activities that keep the farm going. I also write about my thoughts and dreams and goals. On Friday’s I always write about TLC Cai-Cai. Our sweet kitty who helps keep the farm safe. And Boo Berry Betty, a breeder dog learning to be a Farm Dog! Leveling the Field so the Water Will Flow Downhill

Just about done with the spring tractor work, leveling is getting everything ready for the fertilizer, and then marking out the rows.

After that we start water, wait for the ground to dry up (some) and plant. But the spring work is over, once we get to the leveling part.

Soon the Tire is Fixed and the Tractor is Back to Work

We are Opening up a New Field

Since Terry retired he has time now to do the things he was always going to get too. This little field hasn’t been working in 20 years, so the fence is coming down in preparation to enlarge the area and plant it. Alfalfa sounds like a good crop.

Still No Water in the Canal

Usually the water comes down the canal by March 30^th, but there isn’t any and today is April 1^st.

Terry said that we must not have any onion growers on our ditch this year. (Onion growers start earlier than most farmers, and need the water sooner.)
