Hummingbird Nests

Two little families of Hummingbirds have built nests in one of our really old  sheds.

I keep waiting for the little birds to hatch, but then they do and I miss them.  Darn it.

Anyway, I’ll keep watching.  The next set of eggs I hope to see hatch and if I do so will you!

  2. I think it would be neat to see the hummingbird eggs hatch, so I hope you are there to record the big event. You got another beautiful rainbow. I’ll let you keep the rainbows, but how about sending a little rain our way?

  4. WOW! Neat! I hope you get to see the little buggers sometime. They must be TINY! I’m not sure what kind you have there? Here in ND we only see the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. I have a lovely pair here at my farm that I enjoy watching the antics of as they visit my feeders and perennial flower gardens. They likely nest in my evergreens, so I’ve never been lucky enough to find a nest.

  5. I can’t even begin to imagine how small the nest and the babies would be. Wow! It certainly would be neat to see their first flight!
I know there are a few web cam’s that have watched nesting hummers – they are fascinating. But, to have one in your shed is far cooler!

  6. Interesting. Here they have nests in bushes. We have about 20 barn swallows this year. I love watching them and they sure eat the bugs.
